Gala forecast review: activity remained elevated after the event.

Two of three pre-registered predictions for the 9 August gala verified. The third did not: recorded presence held at 300 rather than declining within 48 hours.

What changed

Three falsifiable predictions were registered on 7 August, two days before the Big Art Festival gala at the Romazzino. On the night, 90 identified yachts were recorded within 3 kilometres of the venue against a prediction of at least 30, and the 20-kilometre coast-wide count reached 293 against a prior August high of 209. The third prediction expected the coast to decline by at least 15 percent within 48 hours; instead the count held at 300 on 11 August.

The result is published either way. What the records show is elevated presence continuing after the event; they do not establish why individual yachts remained.

Why it matters commercially

Pre-registered forecasts that are graded in public are the standard this page holds itself to. The miss defines the follow-up question for next season: whether gala weekend has become the start of the coast’s peak week rather than a single-night spike.
